5 techniques for higher converting blog posts

Can you think of any websites out there that DON'T benefit from high-converting blog posts?

Whether it's e-commerce, a business website, personal blogs, or an online business, blogging is super important and can help a website grow hella fast!

Blogging is free content that drives traffic to your website, increases your "like, know & trust" factor, showcases your offerings, and pimps out your knowledge/expertise to potential clients. People love checkout out free content online and blogging is a phenomenal way to reach new audiences and attract more of your ideal client.

In my own business, for example, blogging has been a game changer. I publish new blog posts at least twice a week (binge the Archives here) and that consistency has definitely paid off. A quick look at my Squarespace Analytics tab shows that Google and Pinterest are my largest traffic drivers, and that I can directly attribute those referrals to blogging.

Now that we agree that blogging is a great way to get people onto your website and show off your offerings to new audiences, what's the next step? What steps can you take to turn a regular old blog post into a converting machine?

There's no point working hard on a blog post only to have it flop (meaning: people check out the post then leave your site right away). This serves no one and is a waste of time. Today I'm sharing 5 tried & true techniques that will have your blog posts converting like crazy. Should you be using popups on your Squarespace website?

Do popups suck? Are they the worst thing about the internet? Are popups enough to turn you off of a website and never return?

In my experience, SOME popups suck but it’s not a universal truth.

Popups get a bad rep mostly because in the past, they were plastered all over the place without much consideration for user experience. A popup delivered with a bad message at the wrong time is super annoying, I agree, but luckily web design has come a long way in recent years and popups are no longer the major turn off that they once were. Popups don’t have to be mismanaged, they don’t have to manipulate website visitors, and they sure as heck don’t have to look like a branding fail.

If you’re on the fence about adding popups to your Squarespace website, I’m here to tell you why you should try them out starting yesterday, go over some of the pros and cons of having a popup, and also point out some considerations so that you get the most value out of popups.

Shall we POP right in? <- - - sorry not sorry

How to add and style a popup on your Squarespace website - video tutorial

There's a reason why your favourite websites hit you with a popup - because they work. Really well.

Love 'em or hate 'em, popups are here to stay. Not only are popups an effective way to collect emails to grow your list (which you should start asap, if you haven't already!), they can also be used to advertise and notify visitors of a promotion, or even drive traffic to specific content/pages on your website.

Web design has advanced a lot in recent years and popups have become less intrusive, which is a #win for everyone on the internet. Squarespace's built-in popup feature is fully customizable and lets you choose between different layouts and styles. Branding is seamless and you also have full control over where and how the popup appears on your website.

Now that popups are designed to be less "in your face" and they no longer butcher the user experience of a website, they're a design element that I totally get behind.

If you're curious about adding a popup to your Squarespace website, I hope this video tutorial shows you how easy they are to create and just how much customization is available to you!

Answer me this : are you making it super easy for visitors to you website to get in touch with you?

No seriously, how many steps does it take in order to contact you, get connected to the right person at your business, or inquire directly about a product or service?

I hope you're saying, "yes, duh, of course it's easy for people to get in touch through my website" but maybe you're in the "ahhhh I put my email address on my contact page, does that count?" group - if that sounds like you, listen up!

I'm about to show you how easy it is to add forms to your Squarespace website.

As a web designer, I'm a huge fan of including forms on your website because they are a great and simple way for your customers to get in touch with you. In tech talk, they are a good choice from a user experience point of view.

Better yet, forms increase leads and conversions which means that they are also a smart business decision! Forms that are placed in prominent or thoughtful spots on your site lead to more inquiries from your visitors, which can help you sell more of your products, services and/or offerings.

If you’ve ever wondered how to add and customize a form on your Squarespace website, I hope this video shows you how easy it is to get one up and running!
