Should social media growth be the focus of every business?
Exciting news, my friends: I was on my first podcast!!!
One of my online buddies Jessica co-hosts the podcast All Up In Your Lady Business and recently featured me in an on-air coaching call.
You can listen to the episode here or click the button below.
We talked about social media, whether a business needs a large following in order to be successful, and so much more. I asked her if "growing my social media following" should be one of my goals for the rest of the year (since I've been able to build a successful business without much of a following so far), and Jessica and her co-host Jaclyn had some really wonderful tips for me.
I was open and honest about how I've been able to grow my business up to this point without a large social media following, what strategies I've relied on instead, and how I'm going to shift things around moving forward.
No matter what stage of business you're in, I know that you'll get something out of this podcast. The insights will also work for people in a variety of industries so whether you're a web designer/ developer, accountant, lawyer, consultant, graphic designer, whatever - there are takeaways for you.
If you're curious to hear our conversation or just want to see what I sound like in real life, be sure to listen the the podcast episode!
Once you do, I'd love your thoughts on the episode and whether you agree with our conversation. Are you focused on growing your social media following for your business or are you fine without a million followers? Do I sound like you thought I would? Let me know in the comments!
And don't forget that you can listen to the podcast by clicking the button below :)

Let’s start off this post by stating the obvious: we’re in the middle of a global pandemic, thanks to COVID-19!
Life as we know it is no longer the same and it’s impacting every aspect of our daily lives: work & business, personal finances, health & fitness, social interactions, staying at home vs going out in public, emotions and mental health, screen time… you name it, it’s different from a few months ago!
I’m writing this post in the middle of May 2020 at by now, we’ve all settled into some sort of “new normal” routine. It’s kind of whack to think about but humans are adaptable and we are all just doing our best and making the most out of this insane situation.
Earlier this week, I published a blog post where I talked about how I’m making the most of Lockdown 2020. Looking at the numbers, I can tell that people like this type of blog post because it’s a post that has received a crazy amount of traffic & visits lately! I decided to give you more of what you want and write a “day in my life” blog post so that you can see a more detailed breakdown of how I’m spending my time during this global pandemic.
Way back in May 2017, I published “Here’s what my typical day looks like as a web designer/developer” and it’s really fun and interesting to reflect on what has changed since then and how in other ways the foundation of my daily schedule looks so similar, even though years have passed and the situation is completely different.
I hope that you enjoy seeing this “behind the scenes” look at what a fairly typical day looks like for me right now, how I’m still running my business during the pandemic, what projects and products/services I’m working on, and how I’m spending my time. Personally, I really enjoy seeing how my peers (and other creatives) run their businesses and schedule their time and I love playing the comparison game to my own schedule. I usually find myself picking up pointers or suggestions along the way so hopefully there are things here that resonate with you!

Lockdown 2020, what a wild ride! Can you believe we’re already in the second week of May? Like, whaaaaaaat? We used to say “time flies when you’re having fun” and I guess that’s still true, although now I’m thinking we need to change it to “time flies when you’re in the middle of a global pandemic” LOL!
Jokes aside, I wanted to write a blog post that sums up my experience with the Covid-19 lockdown and how it has impacted my life and business thus far.
Personally, I think it will be really neat to look back at this post in a few months/years to see where my head was at, what I was up to, how I was keeping busy and staying sane.
I also know that we’re all voyeurs to some extent, and everyone loves to creep each other on the internet. It’s fascinating to see how our own experiences are the same or different from someone else’s, so I hope that you enjoy this little glimpse and snapshot of my life right now.
As a general rule, I keep the content on this blog primarily work related and don’t share a whole lot of “personal” posts. That being said, this is going to be one of those posts that covers both business and “real life” so hopefully it’s still interesting to you!
Alright, without further ado, here are my musings on Lockdown 2020 thus far - the good, the bad, the ugly and the wonderful.
