Everything you need to know about permalinks and Squarespace SEO

SEO is an art, not a science, but I've seen many websites get incredible results simply by following a few best practices.

One of the best and easiest ways to improve SEO for your Squarespace website is by setting up permalinks in the best way possible.

Permalinks are also known as URL slugs, and they are one of the factors of good SEO that many people overlook. If they only knew how valuable good permalink structure was, I know they would give it the attention it deserves!

Permalinks don't have the most riveting reputation but they are an element of website development that should never be ignored, especially if you are focused on growing your website through SEO.

I'm going to introduce you to permalinks (aka URL slugs), explain why they are so important, and let you in on the best practices for setting up permalinks for SEO success.

How much does it cost to run a Squarespace website?

They say that the best things in life are free, but sadly that isn't the case for running your beloved website.

There are inherent costs associated with running, operating and maintaining a website and there’s no way around it - you've got to pay to play.

I get asked a lot about how much it costs to run a website and in all honestly, the answer is that "it depends". I know, I know! You were hoping for a set amount but I just can't give you that because there are so many variables.

What I can do, however, is share with you the set cost of running a Squarespace website (meaning : the expenses you can't skip) AND fill you in on the other expenses that you can expect to pay to keep your site up and running.

Many people are happy to talk candidly about the income their website earns (read : money in) but it's harder to get people to open up about the actual operating costs and expenses (read : money out). Lucky for you, I have no such hangup :) If you've been following my blog for a while, you know I LOVE talking about money (examples here and here) and giving you a behind the scenes look at how much it actually costs to run a website and have an online business, so let's dive right in!

How to add or remove a contributor to your Squarespace website

When it comes to your website, are you a lone wolf or part of a team?

In some cases, there’s only one person in charge of running a website. This is especially true if you are a solopreneur or if your website is part of your own personal business. Bloggers, consultants, freelancers and small business owners are often in charge of all things related to their websites.

But that’s not true for every website out there! In most cases, two or more people have access to the website. This could be the business/website owner AND their developer, designer, marketing team, social media person, staff and intern(s), whoever!

When more than one person needs access to the website, it’s important to set up different accounts. With Squarespace websites, this is set up through contributors settings, which I will walk you through below.
